A leased cove, run by the family on it
Eastwind has been operating on this beach for years, and the people who greet you are the people who own it.
The property sits on leased land in Sitio Guinling, San Fernando, and almost everyone working here lives within a few kilometres of it.
It started as a kitesurfing spot — the wind here was known before the beach was — and grew into eight villas, a kitchen, a bar and a pool as guests kept asking to stay longer than a day. The lease is the reason the buildings are what they are: timber, nipa and amakan, repairable and replaceable, rather than concrete that cannot be undone.
Same owners, same cooks, same boatmen, year after year — which is why returning guests get their usual villa held for them. The property reads as one thing rather than three: off-white walls, one terracotta accent, woven cladding, warm light and a landscape that was laid out on purpose instead of grown into.
