Espresso under a woven ceiling
The same amakan weave that clads the villas, brought overhead and lit from behind the cove.
One room between the arrival pavilion and the pool deck, open on the long side, with the bar at the back and the good chairs at the rail.
Espresso from a timber bar in the morning, cold drinks through the afternoon, and a hanging chair that is occupied from about four o’clock onward. Rattan pendants hang low over the counter; the ceiling carries the same woven panel as the villa cladding so the two buildings read as one property.
Rocking chairs sit along the rail facing the water, which is where most guests end up with a book. The room stays open late for anybody who wants to sit out of the wind, and the kitchen next door sends food across until the restobar closes.
The same room, four hours apart
Midday
Rattan and cream, pool beyond the balustrade, fans running.
Sunset
Cove light comes in flat and low across the whole floor.
Evening
Rocking chairs at the rail, brass drum table, uplit palms.
The café is the only air-conditioned public room
Everything else on the property is open to the breeze on at least one side.
