A lap pool, a plunge, and two lounges sunk into the deck
Hardwood the whole way round, warm LED at the deck edge, thatch and sail shade over the loungers.
The deck is the one place on the property where everybody ends up, so it was built to hold a crowd without feeling like one.
A 10 x 20 m lap pool with a kiddie pool, and an octagonal plunge set into the centre of the deck with a tiled medallion in its floor. Loungers run down both long sides under thatch parasols, and two seating wells are sunk into the timber so the people in them sit below the sightline of the people swimming.
Deck edges are lit in warm LED at ankle height rather than from above, which keeps the water dark and the sky visible. Open 07:00 to 19:00, free for staying guests; kayaks and paddleboards go out from the beach at the bottom of the steps.
